How To Make A Miami Vice Drink?

If you’re looking for a refreshing and visually appealing cocktail that captures the exuberant atmosphere of Miami, the Miami Vice drink is for you.

This delectable combination combines the sweet flavors of a pia colada with the acidic goodness of a strawberry daiquiri.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of making this tropical masterpiece that will transport your taste senses to Miami’s sandy beaches and swaying palm trees.

What Is The Origin Of The Name Miami Vice?

The Miami Vice drink, believe it or not, was not named after the Don Johnson crime thriller of the same name from the 1980s. It was actually created before the popular television show was ever in production.

It was, however, invented in Miami and blends two of the state’s iconic cocktails. It’s a combination of a strawberry daiquiri and a pina colada. This frozen drink is reminiscent of Miami!

    Ingredients required

Rum – For this drink, I prefer a light, white rum or a coconut rum, such as Malibu. You could also use spiced rum instead, but the flavor would be slightly different.

Strawberries – For this recipe, you can use either frozen or fresh strawberries. ***Tip: Using all frozen strawberries will result in a thicker mixture. If you like a thinner drink, use solely fresh strawberries or a combination of frozen and fresh strawberries.

Cherry juice – Maraschino juice adds color and flavor.

Lime juice – Adds a tangy note.

Pineapple juice – This is used in the pina colada.

Coconut cream – Sweet and creamy. I discovered mine in the grocery store’s baking section.

Ice – Ice is required for both sections of the drink.

How To Make The Miami Vice Cocktail?

This frozen beverage is formed by blending two different cocktails, strawberry daquiri, and pina colada. Make each individually, then combine them in a tall glass to create a delectable beverage ideal for poolside drinking.

    Strawberry Daquiri:

    • Combine ice, strawberries, lime juice, maraschino juice, and rum to produce the strawberry daquiri portion in a blender.
    • Blend until the mixture is slushy.
    • Place the blender in the fridge and rinse it out.
    • Combine ice, coconut cream, pineapple juice, and rum in a blender. Blend until smooth.
    • Pour a portion of the pina colada mixture and then the strawberry daquiri mixture into a tall glass to serve.
    • To achieve the half-and-half effect, run a big knife down the center of the glass and pour each mixture on one side.

    Suggestions And Variations

Virgin – Simply leave out the booze to make this a virgin cocktail. Replace the rum in the daiquiri layer with water or strawberry juice and in the pia colada layer with extra pineapple juice.

Daiquiri Flavors – Experiment with different flavors by substituting frozen mango, peach, blackberries, raspberries, or even papaya for the strawberries. You may need to add a little more sweetener depending on how sweet the fruit is.

Daiquiri Flavors – If you want to add even more tropical flavor, add 1⁄2 a ripe banana to the pineapple layer.

Garnishes – In addition to fresh pineapple wedges and fresh strawberry slices, maraschino cherries, and whipped cream can be added to a Miami Vice drink.

Add an umbrella – I didn’t do this because I didn’t have any, but you can always add a tiny paper umbrella for a fun, vacation-y touch.

Have fun and stay cool, my friends!

Make Yourself A Miami Vice Mocktail

Simply leave out the rum to make this Miami Vice cocktail alcohol-free. You’ll still obtain those gorgeous distinct layers, but while mixing in the blender, you may need to add a touch more pineapple juice for the frozen pia colada/pineapple layer and extra fruit punch for the frozen strawberry daiquiri layer.

If you prefer a thicker consistency, you can use a smoothie bowl blender.

Enjoy these classic beachy drinks however you want, and don’t be afraid to get creative and adapt them to your preference!

The Miami Vice cocktail is more than simply a cocktail; it’s a work of art that tantalizes the senses and transports you to Miami’s sun-kissed beaches. Thanks to its vivid layers, tropical flavors, and refreshing taste, it’s the ideal choice for celebrating life’s big and small occasions. So gather your pals, raise your glasses, and raise a glass to the magnetic charm of this legendary cocktail.
